metr.cube [2023 - ongoing]
metr.cube is an artist-led mobile platform that investigates mobility as both method and medium within contemporary cultural production. The initiative operates across two scales: macro-mobility, referring to the circulation of the exhibition apparatus across geographic and social contexts; and micro-mobility, examining everyday infrastructures of movement, from urban transit to domestic routines.
The name combines the cubic meter (m³), a unit of contained volume, with the French maître (master), pointing to questions of measurement, control, and the spatial politics of display.
Since 2023, metr.cube has developed the Cubes series: a truck functioning simultaneously as exhibition container and active participant. Through public interventions and mobile exhibitions, the project responds to the lack of space for independent artistic production, the standardisation of public display, and the institutional thresholds that regulate access.
metr.cube continues to develop new exhibition formats and collaborations that explore the relationship between movement, access, and artistic practice.
metr.cube is co-founded and co-directed by Ayşegül Yapar and Begüm Çelik.
metr.cube has been funded by SAHA Sustainability Fund & CultureCivic.
metr.cube has been mentored by Fatoş Üstek.
